Kate Ryan - Desenchantee

Spanning through cultures, I’ve come to the realization that art exists everywhere! I have also found that art does truly exist in a multitude of media. When I watch everything, I try to take in as much as I possibly can. Sometimes I see things so intensely that the things I see saturate my mind. Moreover, this happens day after day. While these things can get annoying, most of the time I’m just glad that I can take in so much.

Being a photographer, my craft forces me to look at everything visual on a critical level. I notice the cool-warm tones, use of repetition, visual expression of the people, dynamic angles, use of color harmony, and vanishing points. All of those things take my breath away.

Aside, the French language is so fluid and the range of tonality etches the song deeper into my mind every time I watch this video. I have no idea what she is singing or what it is about. It is so beautiful that the mystery is okay with me.

Update: October 29

Well the mystery could last no longer, I had to find the lyrics of Desenchantee.

Lyrics (English):

Swimming in the troubled waters
Of the days after
Waiting here for the end
Floating in the almost
Empty atmosphere
Who do I reach my hand to?

If I have to fall from high
Let my fall be slow
I only found peace
In detachment
Although I would like to find innocence again
But nothing makes sense, and nothing is going well

Chorus:
All is chaos,
Off the mark
All my ideals:
damaged words…
I’m looking for a soul
that can help me
I’m part
of a disillusioned generation
disillusioned

Who could stop me
From hearing everything
When reason is collapsing?
Which saint must I devote myself to?
Who can claim
To carry us in their womb?

If death’s a mystery,
Life is everything but easy
If there’s a hell in the sky,
The sky will have to wait for me
Tell me how to go about it
In these adverse winds
Nothing makes sense any more, nothing goes well anymore
